About TTBoys and our editorial standards
TTBoys (Three Cushion Three Boys) is a free service for learning 3-cushion billiards, comparing ball layouts and keeping your club's match records. The basics, systems, practice drills, the science of billiards and the basic simulator can be read and used without signing in.
Who writes it?
TTBoys writes and edits the lessons and diagrams. We use AI tools for research and for drafting text, diagrams and code. This does not mean that the authors of a paper or the creators of a video wrote or reviewed the explanations on this site. We do not claim expert review or testing on a real table unless we say so explicitly.
How do you separate sources from interpretation?
- We link papers together with their research topic, experimental conditions and limits of application. If we only checked the abstract, we say so.
- For videos, we show the creator and a link to the original. Practice sequences written from selected scenes are TTBoys' own editing.
- We distinguish teaching material from peer-reviewed papers. Having a source does not mean something is accurate for every real layout.
What the diagrams, formulas and simulator mean
Table diagrams are concept drawings that explain ball layouts and principles. Do not read a diagram as a measurement unless it is labeled as measured or as a successful path. Read a system's rule of thumb together with its diamond scale, stroke and table conditions, and do not carry numbers from pocket billiards or snooker experiments over to 3-cushion as fixed corrections. The simulator is also a physics model for learning, and it differs from a real table.
Review dates and corrections
The review date shown on an article is when we checked the sources. It is different from the publication date of a paper or the date of any test on a real table. If you find a wrong explanation, layout or source, please send the page address, the sentence or diagram in question and any evidence you can compare through Contact and error reports.
