Sánchez two-cushion bank system Sánchez · Two-cushion bank
An aiming reference for reaching the first object ball after two cushions. Construct the parallel using the second-cushion arrival Q, not the object-ball centre.

Sources and diagrams reviewed: 2026-10-11. Rules of thumb are practice references for a specific diamond scale and stroke. Geometric constructions are kept separate from real trajectories, and nothing was measured on a real table. On mobile, the table stays in landscape so the directions in the text match the diagrams.
What do you read from the layout?
- Find Q on the second cushion for the intended contact on the first object ball. Join cue ball S to Q and mark midpoint M.
- Join M to reference corner C. Translate that line parallel through S without rotating it. Do not mix a cushion corner with the rail corner mark.
- If the reference and parallel lines read 11 and 18 on the same long-rail scale, their difference 7 is the first-cushion candidate. Seven is not a universal aim.
Slope and correction: The source uses 2–3 tips above centre and a soft stroke of about 1.5 rail lengths. Tip scales differ; do not copy that number directly into the app.

18 − 11 = 7

Using the object-ball centre instead of Q changes the construction. After two cushions and the first ball, plan the third cushion and final ball, avoiding a kiss.
Practice with the example layout
Back to the worked example and layout ↑Using the object-ball centre instead of Q changes the construction. After two cushions and the first ball, plan the third cushion and final ball, avoiding a kiss.
- Point to the cue ball and the cushion target where the calculation ends. Then think separately about the cushions and the order of the two object balls after this partial route.
- Repeat the same layout 5 times and record where the first cushion and the calculated target actually land.
- If the first cushion is already off, check your aim and thickness; if the first cushion is right but later ones drift, check spin and speed. Change only one thing for the next 5.
Sources and verification
- Five & Billiards · Sánchez two-bank (figures 5–6) — Both object balls about 2–4 ball widths from the same short cushion. A third cushion is still needed before the final ball.
Sources may use different diamond scales and conditions. The text notes which scale it uses and the limits of what was checked; the diagrams are our own concept drawings.
